SA State tite will be held this weekend

This weekend Murray Bridge Speedway will hold the SA Super Sedan State Title which has attached interest from all of the 5 states with a total of 35 cars nominated.

Matt Pascoe who is currently running A1 will be heading down to run the state title, Matt last ran here in Feb for the Grain Final of the NSSS where he finished 2nd overall and only 61 points behind the leader. Matt is one of many Queenslanders making the trip down, the likes of Q15 Gavin Northfield, Q2 Steve Pearce, Q3 Matt Williams, Q26 Sean Black, Q33 Wayne Randall & Q63 Justin Smithwick will be joining him in their quest to take home the SA1.  Also joining them will be Q36 Darren Kane, Darren has had a lot of success in his Dominator super sedan, winning the NSSS 3 times and multiple state titles over his career but Darren is yet to win a SA state title and I’m sure he will be doing his best to rectified that this weekend.

We will see 4 cars from Tassie’s and 4 from WA make the trip over. Travelling over on the boat will be T4 Sam Hughes, T8 Steve Latham, T79 Jason McPherson and previous SA state title winner in 07/08, 08/09 and runner up in 11/12 T6 Brad Smith and from WA we will see W14 Peter Lyall, W82 Dustin Higgs, W4 Bert Vosbergen who won in 01/02 and current W1 Kodee Brown.

Two NSW drivers N17 Lachlan Onley and N111 Wayne Brims will head down to have a run at the state title and will be getting a grip on the track before the Aus. title

V0 Lucas Roberts 5x time Vic state title holder, V3 Mick Nicola who finished 3rd in overall points this year on the NSSS and has won the SA state title 3 times and has finished 2nd once and 3rd 3 times since 1998-99, V16 Ash Bergmeier and current holder of the V1 which was run and won last weekend V1 Peter Nicola will also be making the trip down.

13 of our local drivers will contest the state title nominations include 6x state winner S47 Steve Stewart, S87 Robby Marchant, S46 Wayne Vickers, S99 Steve Schwarz, S22 Paul Blenkiron and S89 Luke Dodding. Then we have the new drivers who have yet competed in a SA State title before S52 Michael Brown, S3 Russell Worthley, S12 Kym Hammerstein and new comers to Super Sedans this season S23 Kaleb Perrett  and S36 Ryan Alexander. Also out to contest the home state title will be Dave Gartner S8 last year’s previous winner who will be hoping he can make it 2 for 2 and previous winner in 06/07 Bill Miller S77.

It’s great to see a high car count for our state title and the following week will be the Australian Super Sedan Title which will also be held at Murray Bridge Speedway. Can one of our local lads keep SA1 here in the state or will one of our interstate drivers take it, we will find out this weekend at Murray Bridge Speedway.

Good luck to all.
